Since its development in the eighteenth century, the popularity of the piano endures. The ‘king’ of all instruments, the piano is unparalleled in flexibility of sound and versatility of genre, with an enormous repertoire to match. Tracing the instrument’s development from its invention to its position at the heart of Western music practice, we will enjoy a feast
of our favourite piano pieces throughout the course.
Please note that these sessions will be held in the Guildford Institute's Assembly Room to make use of their Bechstein grand piano.
